WE-LAB Expands to Cities in South Florida
When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected Dream in Green (DIG) as the sole awardee of its 2013 Environmental Education grant for the implementation of the Water and Energy Learning and Behavior Program (WE-LAB), it was with the condition that the program be easily replicated across the country. Almost two years later, having successfully implemented WE-LAB throughout Miami-Dade, in late April 2015 WE-LAB was launched in Broward County with a workshop at the City of Hallandale Beach attended by over 65 city residents.  Participants learned about [...]

Dream in Green's (DIG) environmental education programs are recognized for their excellence by two prestigious organizations, The National Association of Counties and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. At its fifth annual Green Means Green Awards, The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce honored DIG the “Green Pro” award for its work as a lead organization in helping schools reduce their environmental footprint and promoting sustainable behaviors including energy and water conservation, waste reduction and recycling. 41 Miami-Dade Schools Receive Awards from Dream in Green for their Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
June 5, 2015 – Miami, FL – On Wednesday, June 3rd, 41 schools were honored at Dream in Green’s Annual End-of-Year Awards Ceremony. The event celebrated students, teachers and staff representing 115 elementary, middle and high schools who participated in the 2014–2015 Green Schools Challenge (GSC)/Water and Energy Learning and Behavior (WE-LAB) programs. FAU Pine Jog Environmental Education Center: Connecting 9-12 Grade Learners with Professionals in the Fields of Environmental Science and Research.
Placed-based learning is a critical tool for a well-rounded student. The key is for students to experience first-hand the anthropogenic impact of ecosystem interactions with instruction from knowledgeable researchers, educators and professionals. WE-LAB MAKING IMPACT IN SCHOOLS
The Water and Energy Learning and Behavior Program (WE-LAB), linked to the Green Schools Challenge, is being implemented in 25 public and private schools seeking advanced sustainability curriculum focused on the Water/Energy Nexus.
