When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected Dream in Green (DIG) as the sole awardee of its 2013 Environmental Education grant for the implementation of the Water and Energy Learning and Behavior Program (WE-LAB), it was with the condition that the program be easily replicated across the country.  Almost two years later, having successfully implemented WE-LAB throughout Miami-Dade, in late April 2015 WE-LAB was launched in Broward County with a workshop at the City of Hallandale Beach attended by over 65 city residents.  Participants learned about the water/energy nexus and its impacts to Hallandale Beach community, as well as water-energy-saving behaviors that encourage long-term environmental stewardship through money-saving actions.

Much like its partnership with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), DIG has initiated conversations with its counterpart in Broward, the Broward Water Partnership, a government service consisting of 19 municipalities and water utilities who have come together to help save water, money and the environment.

Additional workshops will be held over the coming months in Hallandale Beach and other South Florida locations. Visit www.we-lab.net to get the latest information on WE-LAB Workshops.
