Robert Morgan Educational Center Students Host Earth Day Celebration, Educate School-Wide Population

On April 24 Robert Morgan Educational Center celebrated Earth Day 2014 by hosting a school-wide Eco-Summit. The celebration, held during the students' lunch period, helped to raise awareness about actions that protect the environment. The school’s Green Team, the Science National Honor Society (SNHS), received a $500 grant through Dream in Green’s Green Leadership program in support of this event. Specifically for this event, they created banners and posters containing environmental messages, printed T-shirts for their members, bought paint for their hand painting stand, gave out fruit [...]

E.W.F Stirrup Elementary Students Host Eco-Summit and Arbor Day Celebration

On April 25 E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary celebrated Arbor Day at their annual school Eco-Summit, the final activity of the Green Schools Challenge (GSC). The Eco-Summit kicked-off with a tree planting ceremony and included facility staff, teachers, students, the school Principal, Dr. Hernandez, as well as special guests from Perris Ellis and Dream inGreen. Dream in Green Schools Win Back-to-Back Samsung Education Contest

Have you ever considered how math and science might benefit the environment? Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow National Education Contest focuses on how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education can help the environment. Last year Leewood K-8 Center won the contest and this year G.W. Carver Middle also won. Both schools are part of the Green Schools Challenge. To become more environmentally aware, students at G.W. Ransom Everglades Students Focus on Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship has been an important part of Ransom Everglades and is one of the school’s six major goals with in its 2009 improvement plan. Students at the school took water conservation to the next level by replacing older plumbing fixtures with high-efficiency fixtures with motion sensors, retrofitting existing traditional filtered tap water fountains with water bottle filling stations throughout campus, reducing the demand for disposable water bottles. Nautilus Middle Eighth Graders Win Awards at Future City Competition

The 2013-14 Future City Competition asked students from around the country to tackle tomorrow’s transportation needs by designing ways to move people in and around their city. Student competitors were placed in real world situations and became problem solvers as they brainstormed ideas and design solutions. Students from various grade levels at Nautilus Middle competed in the Future City Competition, sponsored locally by Florida International University (FIU).
