On October 14th, over 1,500 people came together for one purpose: to demand politicians and South Florida community leaders to take action on climate change and sea level rise with real solutions. Crowds gathered in downtown Miami and walked to the Torch of Friendship on Biscayne Boulevard chanting “the seas are rising, and so are we!” Children, students, parents, business leaders, artists, farmers, scientists and dozens of organizations including Dream in Green staff and Board members showed up.

This has been Miami’s largest public demonstration regarding climate change. Environmental educations celebrate as milestones are being reached in Miami in regards to uniting people to respond to the environmental challenges facing our planet. It was reported that of the more than 100 actions that took place across the country that day, Miami’s event turned out to be the largest.

The evening was certainly inspiring for those of us who long to see a change. Moments like this motivate us to continue doing our work, and giving hope to all our future generation, in particularly the students that are part of Dream in Green’s environmental education programs.
