67 awards were presented at the 10th annual Dream in Green Awards Ceremony
On June 2nd, we celebrated the 10th annual Dream in Green Awards Ceremony – an event that recognizes the teachers, students, facilities staff and administrators of the schools that went above and beyond implementing our environmental education programs. Stearns Weaver, our unconditional sponsor for the past ten years, once again allowed us to host the ceremony at their law firm offices in Downtown Miami. The event was one of many firsts. Our first partner of The Dream in Green Academy, the Coral Gables Museum, gave [...]

Water: what about it?
We use it all day, every day. Take a moment to think of all the ways you use water in your daily routine. It is estimated that the average Miami-Dade County resident uses 134 gallons of water per day. Where does our water come from? How clean is it? Who manages it? You should know the answer to all, at least most, of these questions. Miami Dade College’s Earth Ethics Institute hosted a terrific event at the end of March, the Urban Resiliency Symposium. The [...]

Why are we racing to the next species extinction?
The words ‘mass extinction event’ are not something we want to hear much less experience in our lifetime. The most famous mass extinction event is the Cretaceous – Tertiary (K.T.) extinction, also known as the end of the dinosaurs. It is believed that an asteroid barreled into Earth and caused an ‘impact winter’ resulting in the death of 71-81% of all species. However, would you be surprised to learn that the Earth has been through five mass extinction events in the past and we are currently [...]

The big day took place on November 19, 2015 and Dream in Green was able to raise $10,500 dollars by engaging its supporters. Dream in Green staff and board members devised a plan to ensure we raised awareness about our participation in the event and to reach as many donors as possible. We targeted the ‘green’ [...]
