The Miami Science Barge: Floating the Future
The Miami Science Barge is a self-sustaining floating laboratory, and innovation test bed, and environmental education center that provides an urban link to marine conservation and sustainability on Miami’s Biscayne Bay. Miami’s Native Corals in Danger
On June 30th DIG staff attended ECOMB’s Cinema Green screening of Coral City – a documentary starring Colin Foord and Jared McKay, the marine biology/art duo behind Coral Morphologic. The film is both entertaining and educational. The Green Schools Academy – the Idea
This year marks the 10th year anniversary of Dream in Green (DIG) and its Green Schools Challenge (GSC) program. As an environmental education non-profit, a key aspect of DIG is to work non-competitively at building partnerships with other community organizations in order to ‘spread the word’ about environmental and community sustainability. Fort Lauderdale Conducts Groundbreaking Climate Training for Employees
The City of Fort Lauderdale recently completed “Climate Change and Sustainability: Science, Seriousness, Solutions” training for its 2,600 employees in order to encourage them to adopt sustainable practices to minimize the effects of climate change and plan for future conditions to create a stronger and more resilient community. Together with its partner, the Climate Leadership Engagement Opportunities (CLEO) Institute, 30 two-hour training sessions took place in May and June 2015 where employees learned the fundamentals of climate change. DIG Participates in the Miami Chamber’s 2015 Goals Conference
The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Goals Conference was successfully held June 4-5, 2015 at the Hilton Miami Downtown. The yearly event brings together business and community leaders to develop the Chamber’s programming and goals, as well as the vision that moves the community forward in the upcoming year. School Sustainability Leaders Recognized at the GSC Awards Ceremony
On June 3, Dream in Green honored teachers, students, administration and facility staff, winners of the 2014-2015 Green Schools Challenge (GSC) and Water and Energy Learning and Behavior (WE-LAB) programs. WE-LAB Expands to Cities in South Florida
When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected Dream in Green (DIG) as the sole awardee of its 2013 Environmental Education grant for the implementation of the Water and Energy Learning and Behavior Program (WE-LAB), it was with the condition that the program be easily replicated across the country. Almost two years later, having successfully implemented WE-LAB throughout Miami-Dade, in late April 2015 WE-LAB was launched in Broward County with a workshop at the City of Hallandale Beach attended by over 65 city residents.  Participants learned about [...]

Dream in Green's (DIG) environmental education programs are recognized for their excellence by two prestigious organizations, The National Association of Counties and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. At its fifth annual Green Means Green Awards, The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce honored DIG the “Green Pro” award for its work as a lead organization in helping schools reduce their environmental footprint and promoting sustainable behaviors including energy and water conservation, waste reduction and recycling.
