The Green Task Force at Miami Country Day School has participated in and led a variety of green projects throughout the year. The Task Force, made up of students and staff, improved the school’s recycling program, installed LED lighting systems in some of its classrooms, and planted trees and bushes near several of the buildings on campus in order to help reduce air conditioning usage.

In addition, students created a large community garden and an edible wall garden with many of the vegetables and herbs being used right in the school’s cafeteria.

An Environmental Science class will conduct lab and field studies on water quality and will learn more about water conservation. The Green Task Force has a list of initiatives it still hopes to implement including an aquaponics system and a more robust recycling program.
