As we approach the end of the program cycle, GSC Green Teams are ramping up efforts to continue to save water and energy and spread the environmental sustainability message learned from exciting monthly challenge activities relating to our six core topics: Energy Efficiency & Conservation, Water Conservation, Waste Reduction & Recycling, Alternative Transportation, Green Careers and Green Buildings. In April, Green Teams will be busy organizing a school Eco-Summit to educate the school population and wider community about the importance of sustainable practices in their daily lives.
Thanks to the Miami Foundation, GSC schools have been receiving grants of $500 to support school Eco-Summits and continue to increase awareness of important environmental issues for a healthier planet.
WE-LAB Schools: Our ‘graduate’ schools of the GSC participated in the WE-LAB program this year where they had an opportunity to solely focus on the connection between water and energy use and host workshops for school staff, parents and students to empower them to change water and energy-use patterns, reduce costs at home as well as their carbon footprint.
