Dream in Green kicked off its 9th Annual Green Schools Challenge (GSC), on Thursday, September 25, 2014, with a Professional Development Training Workshop for K-12 teachers, administration and facilities staff at Miami Springs Senior High School.

The all-day training provided teachers with instruction on the GSC and WE-LAB programs through large and small-group sessions led by DIG staff. Special guests were invited to the workshop to present information about their programs and work in South Florida including: Victor Alonso from Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Donna Fries from Miami Dade County Water & Sewer Department, Jesse Rittenhouse from the Recycling Energy Forum, Elena Gibson from USGBC South Florida, and Jennifer Diaz from the Everglades Foundation.

GSC/WE-LAB Guidebooks were distributed at the workshop and teachers ended the day by creating their own action plan for implementing the GSC program back at their school.

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Rijo-Conde, Mr. Victor Alonso, Dr. Eva Rosales and Mr. Christian Carranza from the Miami Dade County Public Schools for helping us host this workshop and for printing the GSC/WE-LAB Guidebooks.

A BIG thank you to Stearns Weaver for helping Dream in Green print the 2014-2015 GSC/WE-LAB Guidebooks for independent schools.
